Jewellery stolen in daylight burglary

POLICE are appealing for information after two men broke into a house by climbing a drainpipe and stole jewellery worth a five figure sum - in broad daylight.

Offenders entered the property in Needham Road, Stowmarket, through a first floor window after climbing the drainpipe between 1.15pm and 2.20pm yesterday afternoon.

The owner of the house arrived home at 2.20pm and found a piece of drainpipe on the ground and two men walking up the driveway. They ran off into Wynton Rise when she challenged them and they then jumped in a small white van in Needham Road and sped off with its doors still open.

Jewellery worth a five figure sum was stolen from the house.

The first man is described as white, in his early 30s, about 5ft9in tall of slim build with a thin face, high cheekbones and dark eyes, and with strawberry blond short hair. He was wearing light blue jeans and a navy jacket made of shiny material.

The second man is described as white, in his 30s, taller than the first man and of muscular build. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt, washed out jeans with a black belt and was carrying a cream drawstring bag.

The driver of the van is described as male, white and wearing a grey t-shirt.
