A judge has ordered that a man who downloaded more than 3,000 indecent images of children on his computer should receive treatment rather than a jail term.
David Cornwell, 64, of Middle Green, Higham pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children, two of possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornigraphic images when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court.
Mr Recorder Guy Ayers made Cornwell the subject of a three year community order with a requirement to participate in an Internet Sex Offenders’ Programme. He was ordered to sign on the sexual offences register for five years and pay £500 prosecution costs.
Mr Recorder Ayers said that Cornwell required treatment rather than punishment to help him avoid re-offending.
