POLICE officers in Bury St Edmunds made a surprising discovery when they emptied the town’s knife amnesty bin.
In the bin outside Bury Police Station in April, they found a haul of 196 promotional packaged lock knives.
Jane Hertzog, Bury Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector, said: “They had been made specifically for a company with their logo on, and were in small plastic pockets labelled ‘The All Purpose Safety Lock Knife’.
“There is no such thing as a safe lock knife – they are illegal to possess in a public place and if you are caught carrying one you will be firmly dealt with.”
There is also a permanent knife bin outside Mildenhall police station.
