BURGLARS have ruined an man’s New Year after snatching Christmas presents meant for his nieces and nephew.
Brian O’Rourke, 26, from Brandon, returned home to Saffron Road from a friend’s party early on Monday to find his house had been burgled.
When he searched the property he found that wrapped presents that he intended to send home to the US for his sister’s children – aged three to six – were missing.
Brian, who works as an engineer mechanic at RAF Lakenheath, said: “When I came in the place just looked empty.
“I’m annoyed more than anything – I’ve already had my car broken into three times since living here.
“I was going to send the presents back to New York on the day.”
Brian will now inform his insurance company of what has been taken – once he knows the full extent of the burglary.
“The more I look the more I find things are missing,” he said.
Thieves entered through the back door and took a TV, a games console, accessories and games, DVDs, clothing, a laptop and cash.
