PERSISTENT would-be burglars have been left empty-handed after a spate of attempted break-ins in Mildenhall.
Four garages in Emmanuel Close and Peterhouse Close, both just off College Heath Road, were targeted by vandals between last Friday evening and Monday morning.
The first attempt, in Emmanuel Close, saw the offenders try to force entry to a garage in a block by damaging the handle.
The incident took place between 7pm on Friday and 11am the following morning.
Between 5pm on Sunday and 10am the next day, vandals then forced the lock off a garage door in Peterhouse Close.
Peterhouse Close was hit again the same night between 9pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday morning, when the burglars attempted to gain entry to a garage by damaging the handle. They were unable to get inside.
Finally, the burglars gained entry to a garage in a block in Emmanuel Close but nothing was stolen. The break-in took place between 9pm on Sunday and 9am the following day.
Police are linking the four crimes and also believe there is a link between three separate attempted break-ins elsewhere in Mildenhall.
Garages on Lime Close, Laburnum Avenue and Emmanuel Close were all damaged between last Thursday and the following morning.
Handles were broken and damaged on the garage doors, but again nothing was taken.
The offences took place between 4.30pm on Thursday afternoon and 10.15am the next day.
