Woman’s £9k fraud
A WOMAN has pleaded guilty to defrauding her disabled son out of up to £9,000.
Jacqueline Claydon, of Cowles Drive, Hockwold, admitted to magistrates in Bury St Edmunds last Thursday that she had been siphoning off money from her son Karl’s bank account.
The finances of Mr Claydon were put in the hands of his mother as he suffers from autism, severe learning difficulties and receives 24-hour care at a home in Essex.
Having set up her son’s bank account, Claydon began receiving his monthly income, including £74 disability allowance and £421 incapacity benefit.
Instead of using the money for her son’s benefit, Claydon carried out more than 40 transfers to help ease debt problems.
The case has been adjourned until January 17.
