Teen tells of assault in alleyway

A 17-year-old girl was punched in the face twice and suffered a cracked tooth in an assault as she was putting out rubbish bins while at work.

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Tuesday November 27 in an alleyway between St Johns Close and Pembroke Close, Mildenhall.

The teenager was tying up a bin in the alleyway when a woman walked passed her. The woman turned to her saying she had been splashed and spat in the teenager’s face. The 17-year-old commented that it was assault, at which point the woman then punched her twice in the face saying, ‘that’s an assault’.

The girl was left with a cracked tooth which needed dental attention.

The victim told the Bury Free Press: “I lost a tooth and it has cracked another. She caught me in the jaw. I was surprised at what happened. I have no idea who she was. It was raining and I shook the bag to get some water off as I was tying it up. It was nasty incident.”

Police say the woman is described as white, 5ft 7ins, in her late 30s and of chubby build. She had blonde hair, which was at least shoulder length and wore a thigh length dark coloured fur lined hooded coat, gloves and was carrying green bags.

Anyone who was in the area and saw someone matching this description is asked to contact Pc Neil Van Holland from Mildenhall Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
