Marijuana fudge man must pay

A STOWMARKET man caught growing cannabis which he planned to make into marijuana- flavoured butter and fudge has been ordered to hand over his last remaining assets.

Ipswich Crown Court heard on Tuesday that Rodney Debenham, 43, had benefited from his criminal activity by £11,400 but had only a fraction of that amount remaining.

Specialist financial investigators had established that Debenham, now of Jubilee Avenue, Stowmarket, had assets worth just £1,300.

These were a car which had been sold for scrap for £160 and two others worth a total of £1,140.

Judge John Devaux ordered Debenham to hand over the full £1,300 within the next month otherwise a further 30 days would be added to his 12-month suspended prison sentence.

Debenham was arrested at a house in Whatfield Road, Stowmarket, on March 30 following a suspected burglary which was investigated by police.

Inside they found cannabis plants.

In June, Debenham was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years after pleading guilty to production of a class B drug.

When sentenced, the court heard that Debenham had planned to produced marijuana- flavoured butter and fudge to sell to friends.
