Man is told to curb his anger
A man who assaulted his sister’s partner during a row about a PlayStation game has been told by a judge to take steps to control his temper.
Michael Edmonds, 20, subjected his victim to a series of blows to the head, Ipswich Crown Court heard on Tuesday.
Edmonds, of Abbotts Road, Bury St Edmunds, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to assault by beating and breaching a suspended prison sentence.
Prosecutor Simon Gladwell said that on March 24, Edmonds’ sister and her partner Daryl Parsons visited him and a row broke out about damage to a PlayStation game.
Mr Gladwell said Edmonds lost his temper and struck Mr Parsons several times.
Charles Myatt, for Edmunds, said his client accepted it was a deliberate attack and said he would welcome the chance to take part in a programme to help curb his temper.
The court heard that last year Edmonds was sentenced to 12 months custody suspended for 24 months after assault causing actual bodily harm.
After hearing character references and that Edmonds had obtained a job and was pursuing an Open University course, Judge John Holt decided not to activate the prison sentence. Instead, Edmonds must complete 100 hours’ unpaid community work.
For the assault, Edmonds received a 12-month community order with 12 months’ supervision and must attend aggression replacement therapy sessions.
