ATM raids - Police share info
Barclays in Needham Market has been targeted by theives who tried to rip the cash machine out, leaving a rather large hole.
POLICE forces across the region are liaising over a series of ATM raids in which stolen diggers were used to smash their way into buildings.
Norfolk police are investigating the latest raid on Tuesday in Taverham when a Tesco Express cashpoint was targeted.
Officers from Suffolk are liaising with colleagues in Norfolk to analyse evidence from similar incidents in Suffolk earlier this year.
One of these was at Barclays in Needham Market at the end of July when damage was done to the building by a stolen digger although nothing was taken.
Police are examining similarities between a number of raids and looking for any possible patterns in the attacks.
Detective Inspector Richard Graveling, from Norfolk Police said: “We are linking the incident at Taverham with other raids both in Norfolk and across the region.
“This type of crime affects both businesses and members of the public, and we are treating it as a priority.”
Norfolk police wants to exchange details on the raid with forces in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Suffolk.
