Year 2 pupils from Moreton Hall Prep School, in Bury St Edmunds, took part in this year’s My First Rhyme competition.

It was organised by Young Writers, a Peterborough-based company that works with schools to promote poetry and creative writing.

The children had to write a rhyming poem based on animals or pets and six of them were successful.

Their winning poems will be published in an anthology later in the year.

Year 2 teacher Stephanie Etchells-Butler said: “I am thrilled with their efforts. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and to have six of them published is wonderful.”

The winning children are: Alexander Barker, Oliver Cilliers, India da Silva, Clara Fildes, Molly Milnes and Katy Wilson.
