A CAMPAIGN using faces of local people has been launched by Abbeycroft Leisure to inspire others to get more active.

Active St Eds aims to raise awareness of the impact exercise can have on people’s quality of life.

It features 10 cover stars on an Inspire Me poster and film campaign.

Among them is Jennifer Blenkiron, 43, from Euston, who was referred to the Inspire 4 Life exercise programme after a hip replacement. “I couldn’t have got to where I am now without coming here,” she said.

Ben Rowlinson, 35, from Bury, initially joined the gym to gain black belt in Ju Jitsu. “I just wanted that extra edge,” he said.

Karen Bowyer, 58, from Risby, does up to 14 hours of exercise classes a week to keep up with her grandsons. She said: “My motto is it doesn’t matter how small you start, there’s something for everyone.”

To help measure the campaign’s success, a new active points scheme will be introduced where people collect points every time they take part at Abbeycroft’s centres in Bury and Haverhill. Every 100 points equals 75p and is valid at 400 high street stores. To view the stars click heree}
