A COUPLE celebrating their golden wedding are donating money raised instead of gifts to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Dennis and Sheila Wormleighton, from Bury St Edmund,s celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 20.
Dennis, a former bus driver, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s two years ago.
As part of their anniversary the couple asked the 140 guests to their anniversary bash to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society to give support to the charity that had helped them so much.
The couple have managed to raise £325 for the charity.
Sheila said: “For our 50th anniversary we asked people not to worry about presents and set up a collection for the Alzheimer’s Society.
“They have provided us with so much support and help we wanted to give them something back in return.”
