Couple ‘devastated’ by home burglary

A couple have been left ‘devastated’ by a burglary at their Moreton Hall home.

A motorbike and four road bikes worth £12,000 were stolen from a locked garage in Daisy Avenue some time between 10pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

“We’ve got a nice house in a nice area of town and you don’t expect this sort of thing to happen,” said the woman homeowner, who did not want to be named.

The items taken include a red and white Triumph Speed Triple motorbike, a black Museeuu MF-1 ladies racing bike, which was used to complete a 100-mile charity bike ride at the weekend, and three mens bikes – a metallic blue Colnago Dream racing bike, a dark grey Boardman Team Hybrid and a black Boardman Pro mountain bike.

The motorbike is described as rare, with only a limited number of bikes painted with the same scheme.

The couple were alerted to the thefts by a neighbour who noticed that their garage door had been forced open.

The homeowner said: “We’re absolutely devastated.

“They were our pride and joy. You work so hard to get all the nice things you want and somebody goes and does that to you.”

She added: “We’re desperate to get this stuff back.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
