A family is holding an open garden day with a difference as a thank you to County Upper School.

The open day at the Newton family’s garden in Parkland Green, Fornham St Genevieve, on July 3, from 2pm to 5pm, is run by County Upper School PTA to raise funds so there will be live music being played by County Upper School musicians and the Mark Wharton Jazz Duo.

Garden owner Jane Newton said: “My children went to the school, and although all three are now at University I feel our family owes the school a lot for their sound education.”

There are craft activities for children and a flower arranging competition with a musical theme.

There will also be a plant stall with some unusual plants for sale.

The garden was built in the 1980’s by Dennis and Marion Strange with four huge ponds, rockeries, sunken paths and hidden gardens. There is a woodland area, tree house and friendly chickens.
