A six-week consultation on an area within which a future neighbourhood plan will be prepared will launch tomorrow.

Great Abington Parish Council has applied to South Cambridgeshire District Council to designate the Great Abington Land Settlement Association Estate as a Neighbourhood Area.

This will mean it can go on to prepare a neighbourhood plan which could help shape the future of the area by including proposals for improvements or specific kinds of development.

The district council’s consultation is calling on people to give their views on the parish council’s proposed Neighbourhood Area, and to see if any amendments should be made to the proposed boundary, before a decision is made to designate the area.

Cllr Robert Turner, cabinet member for planning, said: “This is the ninth application we have had from parishes in the district who want to develop their own neighbourhood plan and we are very pleased to be able to support them.”

The consultation will close at 5pm on July 27.

The parish council’s application can be viewed, and comments made, online at www.scambs.gov.uk/content/neighbourhood-areas.

It can also be viewed at South Cambs Hall in Cambourne and comments sent by email to neighbourhood.planning@scambs.gov.uk or in writing to Caroline Hunt, Planning Policy Manager, South Cambridgeshire District Council, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambridge, CB23 6EA.
