MEMBERS of a youth group will be putting health and fitness first after receiving a £200 boost from supermarket giant Tesco.

The Moreton Hall Youth Action Group will use the cash to buy a wealth of fitness equipment and has already splashed out on six exercise mats.

The organisation has also received £500 from county councillor Trevor Beckwith’s locality budget for the venture.

It plans to purchase extra skipping ropes, a rounders set and fitness balls.

Tesco donated the cash from its community fund.

Pat Warby, bookings secretary and fund-raiser, said: “We’ve got computers, pool and table tennis and we wanted to get them to do something a little bit more active.”

The group has been going for about six years and is open to eight to 13-year-olds. It meets at Moreton Hall Youth Club, in Symonds Road, on Tuesdays from 6.30-8.30pm.
