A £100,000 project to refurbish Stowmarket parish church’s original tower entrance has been completed.

The entrance and new toilet facilities at St Peter and St Mary’s Church has been funded by grants and donations from local people and organisations.

It will be officially opened with a special dedication ceremony on Sunday, at 10am, by the Bishop of Dunwich.

The Rev Michael Eden said: “I’m really pleased with it, it’s excellent.”

Entrance steps and an access ramp were installed with new oak and glass doors completing the dramatic new entrance.

Original ancient stones from the floor were reused in the new flooring.

It is the first time the 700-year-old church has had toilets.
