CHILDREN from eight primary schools took part in their own Olympic-themed sports event this week based at Riverside Middle School, in Mildenhall.
The multi-skills event on Wednesday was organised by the Forest Heath Sports Partnership and 320 youngsters took part.
Children from Years 8 and 9 had to take part in activities at a range of stations to test their skills in striking, throwing and fielding and were scored on a points system.
Those taking part were St Mary’s, Great Heath, Lakenheath, Tuddenham, Beck Row, West Row, Elveden and Forest primary schools. Riverside Middle School provided sports leaders and Mildenhall College of Technology performed an opening dance.
Winning teams were awarded certificates and staff took packs of certificates back to school to award to those students who had displayed the most Olympic values.
Cllr Tony Wheble, chairman of Mildenhall Parish Council, awarded certificates and the winning trophy, which was awarded to the winning school, was presented to Lakenheath Primary School by Cllr Roger Dicker, chairman of Forest Heath District Council.
