Chef Zack Deakins has realised his dream of opening his own restaurant.

Last Thursday he launched 1921 Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds in the fully refurbished Grade II listed building that was Graze Restaurant and Bar and is 19 to 21 Angel Hill.

Zack was formerly head chef at the Bildeston Crown and Le Talbooth, Dedham. He trained under Michelin-starred chef Martin Wishart at his Edinburgh restaurant.

Zack said: “I have been fortunate to have worked with some amazing chefs and my own menu is drawn from their influences as well as my love of travel. I am so excited to be opening my own restaurant and to be able to share my passion for beautifully cooked fresh, local produce.

“I think Bury St Edmunds is just the town do it in”.

Paul Bailey, who owned Graze, brings his experience of running restaurants to 1921.
