A CYCLIST’S charity work is at risk after his £1,000 custom-built bike was stolen from outside his home.

David Hicks, 23, of Mildenhall has had his plan to cycle 200km to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society threatened by the theft of his black racing bike.

David said: “I’m gutted, to spend ages building it up for someone to come along and take it is a bit of a kick in the teeth.”

David decided to raise money for the charity after his grandmother, who suffered from dementia, died last year.

The bike was stolen from an outbuilding outside his home in Yew Trees Close, Mildenhall.

He said he was talking to his insurance company and wass determined to complete the ride and claim the £300 sponsorship he has already collected.
