TWO councillors more used to working together on local issues will be working in tandem for a different cause.
Breckland Council’s chairman, Nigel Wilkin, and leader, William Nunn, will take on a marathon sponsored cycle ride on May 5 in support of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) facility in Quidenham.
The pair will be seen off by the mayors of each town they visit, starting atThetford at 8am.
They will finish in Dereham at 4pm – clocking up nearly 50 miles along the way.
Cllr Wilkin said: “I’ve brushed the cobwebs off the exercise bike and have been clocking up at least five miles a day.
“This will be my last fund-raising event as chairman and I am really pleased that the town mayors and deputies are coming out to support us in raising funds for Each.”
Cllr Nunn said he would taking the front seat on the tandem.
He said: “This is the first time I’ve seen Nigel volunteer to take a back seat in anything, but I’m going to make sure he works as hard as I do.
“It’s a privilege to support this deserving local charity.”
Lindsey Newton, spokeswoman for Each, thanked the pair for taking on the challenge.
