CCTV cameras in Thetford will remain online after Breckland Council reached an eleventh hour agreement.
It had looked as though the authority’s 63-camera system would shut down on Tuesday after its operator, Advanced Monitoring Solutions, went into administration earlier this month.
But the cameras will stay on after a deal was struck with King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council.
Lynda Turner, of Breckland Council, said: “Had we not taken such rapid action the cameras would have been permanently switched off on July 31. As it is, downtime will be kept to an absolute minimum.”
The deal will operate in the coming months while Breckland considers its alternatives.
