Cash raised at school plays goes to hospice

AUDIENCES at the Christmas plays put on at St Edmundsbury Primary School in December raised £450 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

On Friday, children presented a cheque to Sue Long, the hospice’s community fund-raiser, who spoke to them about the work of the Bury St Edmunds-based charity.

Head teacher Jo Lundy said that each term the schoolchildren raised money for a charity chosen by the school council and last term they selected the hospice.

She said: “We were delighted with how much we raised.”

The cheque was presented by parent governor Graham Starling and Year 4 pupil Gregor Stewart.

Ms Long said: “We are so grateful to the family and friends who make donations. Without this kind of support we couldn’t continue our work.”
