BURY will bloom through the winter as well as the summer thanks to a partnership between Bury and Bloom and Bid4Bury.

About £11,000 has been given to Bury in Bloom by the town centre improvement group for more basket trees as well as displays on lampposts throughout town.

But as well as the summer baskets, this cash injection will also cheer up the winter streets with pansies and primulas.

Bid4Bury chief executive Mark Cordell said:  “The floral displays from Bury in Bloom have looked stunning this summer.

“Bid4Bury was delighted to be a partner this year in something that has become so much a part of the town over the last 25 years and we look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.”

Bury in Bloom campaign manager Julia Rackowe said: “We’ve invested considerable money over the past few years in delivering floral delight in our compact town centre. But we’ve been concerned for a while that there are some neglected shopping areas that would benefit enormously from a boost of blooms. So we’re particularly pleased that Risbygate Street is benefiting from this generous grant from Bid4Bury.”
