The wonder of Christmas came to young and old at Risby Hall Nursing home this week when it staged a three day Winter Wonderland.
Residents enjoyed re-engaging with their memories and recalling past Christmases as they were entertained by live reindeer, a huge snow globbe, ice rink, gallopers and Santa.
Children from Brookes Cambridge, Risby Primary School and Culford School visited the home in Hall Lane for the event which is open to all the community, free of charge, while residents from other nursing homes, the Gatehouse Day Centre and Glastonbury Court also came along.
Reindeers Moonshine and Ivan were guests of honour.
The 90 residents from Risby Park and Risby Hall also enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies along with other guests and some took a ride on the gallopers and did a bit of skating as well.
Rachel Fitton, clinical director of The Partnership in Care which runs the homes, said the event began after a resident had said she wanted to skate on ice again and the Winter Wonderland was born and has grown each year.
“Everyone has had a massive smile on their faces” she said.
“People have been dancing and singing and everyone has been enjoying their Christmas memories.”
