A MAN has sustained a significant head injury after his car collided with a pub wall in Combs Ford.
East of Anglia Ambulance Service (EEAST) were called to the incident involving a man in his 50’s at the Gladstone Arms on Needham Road, Combs Ford, at 2.57pm today.
Karen Fisher, who works at the vetinarian’s across the road, rushed to the scene after hearing a loud bang.
She said a pale green Ford Mondeo Ghia had hit the wall of the pub.
She said: “I didn’t see the collision, I came out after I heard the crash.
“I assumed it was a delivery and someone had dropped a beer barrell.
“The man told me had been changing his battery, was half in, half out of the car, and must have pressed the pedal.
“He had bashed his head on the windscreen and was already away from the car and sitting down when I got there.”
An ambulance from Ipswich attended the scene, taking the injured man to Ipswich Hospital.
EEAST spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A man who we believed to be in his 50s received a significant injury to his head and following treatment and stabilisation at the scene by the ambulance crews, he was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further care.”
