Businessman Max MacGillivray has departed this week on his 12,000 mile adventure to educate children and their families on where fresh produce comes from.

Max and his riding partner Gareth Jones are motorbiking from England to Cape Town over a three and a half month period for the ‘Great Fruit Adventure - Africa’. They will visit upto 40 fresh produce growers to film and report about how produce is grown and arrives on supermarket shelves.

The Beyton resident, who runs Redfox Executive Selection - a recruitment business in the fresh produce sector, in Fornham St Genevieve, will chronicle the epic adventure online to excite and raise awareness among children and families of the importance of fruit and vegetables.

He left from South Lee School, in Bury, on Monday before going to London and was seen off by the fresh produce trade from New Spitalfields Market on Tuesday.
