Whether a business is new or an established international trader, the Bury Free Press Business Awards can recognise its achievements.

Suffok’s enterprise agency Menta sponsors the Best New Start-Up Award, which in 2014 was won by the cycle shop and cafe destination Maglia Rosso at Hawstead.

Alex Till, chief executive of Menta, said: “It’s easy for new, small businesses to be overlooked when big companies and corporations have the budgets and expertise to ensure their dominance.

“To have a focus and a platform via the Awards is a great way to reward those so important to the local economy.”

Menta has supported the Bury Free Press Business Awards since the beginning and has been supporting businesses in the county for more than 30 years.

As a not-for-profit organisation it works with start-up and existing businesses providing the information, skills training and networking necessary to ensure their success and growth.

The West Suffolk Award for International Trade is sponsored again by the partnership of St Edmundsbury Borough and Forest Heath District Councils.

John Griffiths, St Edmundsbury’ council leader, said: “Our West Suffolk partnership with Forest Heath recognises the importance of promoting opportunities for economic growth, hence not only our role in organising the first Hong Kong international trade event in West Suffolk earlier this year, but also in organising the, very successful Business Festival.

“But we don’t just want to create the opportunities for growth, wealth and new jobs .

“We also want to celebrate these achievements as an example to all, which is why we are sponsoring the West Suffolk Award for International Trade.”

James Waters, Forest Heath’s council leader, said: “This is a chance to celebrate the achievements of businesses from across West Suffolk who are creating local wealth and jobs by trading overseas.

“We have a strong mix of exporters and importers in West Suffolk so our winner will have to stand out from the crowd.

“We are looking for businesses that can not only demonstrate outstanding international trade development, but that are constantly striving to further that growth with a strong track record over the past five years of breaking into new markets.

“Let’s see what you’re made off.”
