Three young people who have launched themselves towards fulfilling careers after joining Suffolk Housing as apprentices are encouraging others to follow their lead ahead of National Aprenticeship Week.
Zoe Lucas, Abbie Jordan and Jake Gregory have been able to secure valuable workplace experience and earn a salary and qualifications through the scheme.
Zoe Lucas, 26, from Red Lodge. began working for Suffolk Housing in April 2010 as a finance trainee and is now finance business partner after completing two professional accountancy qualifications.
She also reached the final 10 of the competition to find 24housing’s ‘young leader of the future’ in 2016.
She said: “I’m really grateful for the support Suffolk Housing has given me through my two courses as I would not have been able to fund the training alone.
“Doing a job which supports your studies is really useful and gives you the best of both worlds.”
Abbie Jordan, 21, from Stowmarket joined the organisation in 2015 and recently completed a customer service qualification. She has now been offered a role as a community development advisor.
Sue Philp, chief executive, said: “Jake, Abbie and Zoe are a testament to just how successful aprrenticeships can be. In our experience they are a fantastic addition to any team.”
