A ‘MICRO brewer’ from Chedburgh, Jeremy Moss, was guest of honour when The Willow Tree pub officially opened in Stowmarket this week.

Mr Moss, who is head brewer at Cliff Quay Brewery, was invited to cut the ribbon at the Weatherspoons Ipswich Street pub.

The new building, which cost £1.7 million, replaced the former offices of Seaman’s Building Company and opened with the creation of 40 jobs.

The pub has been named after the town’s history of osier growing for willow baskets and is opening from 8am until midnight and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The design of the building has been praised for fitting into the conservation area and streetscene in Stowmarket, which has a range of regeneration projects under way.

Phil Stanyon, pub manager, said that since opening the pub had received positive feedback from customers.
