Independent Bury St Edmunds-based recruitment company Cooper Lomaz is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary by notching up a record year.

New figures released by the company, which has 28 staff at its head office in Lower Baxter Street, show it enjoyed its best-ever fees income of £2.7 million in the first six months of this year.

That is a 25 per cent increase on the first half of 2014, which itself was a record year for the firm.

Richard Mould, managing director, said: “We are expecting a record-breaking year financially and we have more people working for the company than ever before.

Mr Mould added: “The jobs market is extremely buoyant. There is a real demand from companies wanting to hire people. Job vacancies are up 40 per cent while the number of available candidates is definitely down. Companies wishing to recruit are frustrated by skills shortages and greater competition for the best people. Candidates are also more mobile and willing to travel.”

To meet the challenges ahead, Cooper Lomaz, which also has offices in Lowestoft and Norwich, has taken on an extra 23 people, taking the workforce to 73 and which is forecast to reach 80 this year.

We are expecting a record-breaking year financially.
