Positive figures for tourism

TWO of the top 10 free attractions in the East of England Tourism’s list for 2009 are just a short drive from Bury St Edmunds.

Needham Lake and Nature Reserve, in Needham Market, had 310,000 visitors in 2009 and Thetford Forest Park, in Thetford, had 1200,000 visitors – both made the top 10 list.

Other local attractions that saw an increase in the number of visitors in 2009, compared with 2008, include Moyse’s Hall Museum, in Bury St Edmunds, which saw an increased footfall of 4,774, Haughley Park Barn, in Stowmarket, which had 1,100 more visitors and Woolpit and District Museum, in Woolpit, which saw an increase of 146 visitors from 273 in 2008.
