Families can now spend the night in Peter Pan’s woods without sleeping in a tent.

Glamping (glamorous camping) pods are a new venture for futures trader Jan Lenggel.

He has installed the first two environmentally friendly wooden pods in woodland at his West Stow home.

They are within yards of a scot’s pine that is locally said to have inspired an illustration in J M Barrie’s first edition of Peter Pan. Barrie knew a headmistress at West Stow school, which is now part of Jan’s house.

Jan has planning permission for two more pods and a tree house.

“I’m a tree lover and very environmentally aware, and these tick all the boxes,” he said. “They’re not permanent, sitting on their own frames, but are connected to all the services.”

Each sleeps four and has a shower room, toilet and kitchenette, plus a barbecue.

“My emphasis is for young families staying in the pods and enjoying the Suffolk countryside when they might not be able to afford to otherwise,” Jan said.
