PROPOSALS for a new supermarket in Thetford could create more than 250 new full-time jobs for the town.
As well as the undisclosed supermarket, the proposed redevelopment of the redundant factory in London Road – the former Tulip site – includes plans to build a car park with up to 315 spaces, a petrol station and improvements to the London Road/Brandon Road junction.
The developer, Location 3 Properties, will unveil its plans at a public exhibition at the Guildhall, being held as part of a programme of pre-planning application consultation from 3-7pm today and from 10am-1pm tomorrow.
Alan Gibbons, Location 3 Properties director, said: “We want to bring more investment to Thetford and feel our proposals for a new supermarket will provide this, as well as more job opportunities and increased shopping choices for residents.
“The new store will bring competition for the other out of centre supermarkets in the town and bring in another major name, enhancing Thetford as a shopping destination.”
