HOME furnishings store Dunelm Mill is set to open in Bury St Edmunds by the end of October.
Dunelm will lease the former MFI shop at the St Edmundsbury Retail Park, off Easlea Road, from Standard Life Investments, which has resolved the problems it was having with planning officers at St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
In February, the retail park owner obtained consent for a change of use for the site, which originally only had permission to sell bulky goods, which make up just 11 per cent of Dunelm’s stock.
Standard Life was in negotiations over planning conditions about how much money they would have to pay towards local infrastructure.
It has now been agreed that this would be a sum of £30,000, plus an agreement to a sustainable travel plan.
A contractor has been instructed to carry out works to the building which should be complete by early September. Dunelm will then need around seven and a half weeks to get ready to open.
