TWO friends are embarking on their first business venture together to offer young people in Bury St Edmunds ‘stand out outfits’ for nights on the town.

Kym Smith, 21, from Bury, and Jayde Chorlton, 22, from Wickhambrook, will open Belles & Beaus Boutique, a clothes shop selling young fashion, next Saturday.

The excited duo, who have retail experience, said they saw a gap in the market and last month, when the shop became available in Langton Place, decided to do something about it.

“When we want to go and buy clothes for the weekends there’s nothing for our age group here, except high priced boutiques and high street stores which are all very samey – for something a little bit different we generally go to Cambridge,” said Miss Chorlton.

The girls will be selling Rave branded clothes, which will be exclusive to Bury, and introducing others including Love, Influence, Danity, Vera & Lucy and Diffuse, as well as accessories like bags and jewellery.

Miss Chorlton said: “We’re going to turn over stock very quickly. We won’t have it laying around out back so once it’s gone it’s gone.”

Miss Smith said they were ‘really excited’ to be opening in time for Christmas.

Belles & Beaus Boutique will be open Mondays to Saturdays, 9.30am to 5.30pm.
