A Bury St Edmunds hotel has been saved after its parent company went into administration.

The Ramada Bury St Edmunds Hotel in Symonds Road has been acquired by Akkeron Hotels Group Ltd saving all 26 jobs at the 71 bedroom hotel.

The Ramada’s parent company Butterfly Hotels Ltd, which operates hotels throughout the Midlands and East Anglia, went into administration this week.

The Akkeron Hotels Group will take over ten of the former Butterfly Hotels for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will not interrupt bookings and will save a total of 200 jobs.

Nick Greaves, sales and marketing manager at Akkeron Hotels Group, said: “The Ramada Bury St Edmunds Hotel is a good solid business that was hampered by the debt of its parent company and we have been able to act quickly to safeguard its future.”

The newly expanded Akkeron group will be made up of 38 hotels throughout the UK.
