EMPLOYEES of a store in Thetford are in danger of losing their job after notice was given on Wednesday of Focus DIY’s intention to appoint administrators.
The home and garden improvements store, in the Forest Retail Park, London Road, is one of 178 stores at risk across the UK that employ a total of 3,919 staff.
A statement issued by Focus DIY Ltd said: “Following notification of an event of default under the senior credit facility, and a realisation that there were no alternatives that could be explored any further, Focus directors have come to the conclusion that to protect the interests of creditors they have no choice but to seek protection through filing a notice of intention to appoint administrators.”
The directors have recommended that Ernst and Young be appointed as the administrators and are currently seeking consent from the business’ lenders.
Speaking yesterday, a Focus spokesman said: “It is business as normal over the next five days, after which the company will be in administration and it will be down to administrators what happens.”
