An independent hair salon in Bury St Edmunds is competing against some of the industry’s top names in the regional finals of a major competition.

The Studio in Churchgate Street will be competing in the regional finals of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy at Duxford war museum on Monday.

“It is really exciting. The girls here work so hard. It is just something that gives us the chance to show our skills,” said salon owner Dawn Bignell.

The salon was set up 18 years ago. Dawn worked there first before taking it over eight years ago.

More than a thousand salons enter the competition. Only 35 salons make the regional finals out of which six are then selected for a national colour finals in London.

The Studio made the regionals at the first time of asking last year but missed out on a national finals top spot.
