Ickworth Hotel appoints a new general manager

Ickworth Hotel which is part of the Ickworth House estate, has appointed a new general manager in veteran hotelier Michael Knox-Johnston.

The hotel located in the East Wing of Ickworth House, was taken over by Luxury Family Hotels when previous owners Von Essen went into administration.

The past year has seen the hotel undergo extensive restoration and refurbishment.

A cinema room is among the new additions.

Mr Know-Johnston, who has 40 years industry experience, has previously been general manager of the de Vere Grand Hotel in Brighton, and chief executive of the Carnegie Clubs International.

“I am delighted to be taking over the helm at this magnificient hotel and feel privileged to be responsible for such an historic property,” he said.

“We will be working closely with the National Trust to ensure that we offer our local guests the chance to enjoy all that The Ickworth has to offer as well as those who have travelled from further afield.

““We will be recreating the very fine tradition of The Ickworth afternoon tea.

“We are also looking forward to the introductuion of The Ickworth Calendar of events specifically created for the local community.”
