Fashion store bolsters its brand

AN INDEPENDENT fashion retailer has bolstered its brand with the launch of a second shop in Bury St Edmunds.

It is now four years since menswear specialist Six Whiting Street opened its doors – and it celebrated its season’s preview on Thursday with the launch of its second shop, Six Whiting Street Women’s Wear.

“It is a natural progression,” said manager Matt Kay.

The men’s store has been stocking ranges of women’s clothing since last spring but as demand grew, customers began to ask for a women’s store.

“We had a small women’s wear section in the back of the men’s store. On the one hand it probably didn’t do our women’s wear justice and on the other hand it was encroaching onto the menswear.

“This is the ideal solution.”

Although the new store is just around the corner in Langton Place it will keep the Six Whiting Street brand name.

“We are still a young business even after four years and we have idenfitified it as important to create a brand. If we had two different names it could be confusing,” said Matt.
