ENGINEERING firm Warren Services based in Thetford has won a £1 million order to make brushes for UK manufacturer Johnston Sweepers.

The contract involves the construction of the complete sweeper assemblage for the road sweepers which will be exported to eastern Europe.

This trebles the amount of work that Warren does for Johnston, which produces the machines in Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.

Warren Services chairman Richard Bridgman said: “We have worked with Johnston Engineering for over 12 years and the relationship has been building up year on year. To be given this contract now means we are doing quite a substantial amount with them, around two-thirds more than we did before.”

Mr Bridgman said Johnston Sweepers had supplied Warren Services with a complete machine so it could test each of the 250 brushes before they were sent out.

The company is producing all the machined and fabricated parts and finishing in house

The firm has reported a 20 per cent turnover increase last year to £5.5 million and works from three sites in the town.
