Members of the Bury St Edmunds Chamber of Commerce have voted unanimously in favour of merging with Suffolk Chamber of Commeerce.
Leaders say the move will result in a ‘joined up voice on important county wide economic issues’ and increase training, networking and business advice available to members in the town.
Colin Knight, chairman of the Bury Chamber, said: “Bury St Edmunds is home to a wide range of fantastic expertise and this decision means that while we will continue to focus on our town and its economy, our members can draw on the experience and services that our county chamber provides. It can only be a good thing for everyone.”
Dr Peter Funnell, president of the Suffolk Chamber, added that the merger is a ‘crucial part’ in strengthening the business voice of the county with Bury bringing a ‘history of achievement and success’.
