Unlocking the secrets of science

Karen Scott and Neil Bleay launched Zebra Science 18 months ago from their Kingfisher Road home in Bury.

They provide hands on science clubs and workshops for six to 11 year olds.

The couple are former middle science teachers and launched the venture after Mr Bleay lost hsi job on the closure of Chalkstone Middle School in Haverhill.

They will visit schools and run sessions offering children real scientific experience with proper science equipment and have recently linked up with Moyse’s Hall Museum and West Stow offering workshops for families.

Karen said: We are really, really pleased and I can’t believe where we’ve got to. Business is such a new area for me and it has been a steep learning curve. We are really excited about the mentoring and are keen to grow the company and offer workshops and clubs to even more children.

The couple have two children, aged five and three, and Karen says she is keen to develop science clubs specifically aimed at girls.
