Students get chance to look into engines

Student mechanics have a sophisticated new piece of equipment to help with their training, thanks to a Hargrave company.

Orchard Industrial donated the 1,000 endoscope to the automotive workshop at West Suffolk College.

It allows apprentices and students to diagnose problems with car engines without dismantling them.

Lecturer Tom Toolan said: "This generous donation will give students an insight into the best available technology.

"This is an advanced piece of equipment based on fibre-optic and lens technology used in medical equipment."

The endoscope was presented to the college by Simon Williams, sales director at Orchard, which supplies marine and industrial instruments.
