New art gallery set to open its doors

Tastes and flavours of Botswana are some of the influences in artwork going on display in a new art gallery opening in Lavenham on Monday.

The gallery, in Water Street, will complement the existing photographic studio owned by Mike Hodges, which currently carries out portrait photography.

The display of photographs show images from Botswana, the setting for the popular No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, where Mr Hodges lived for many years.

A wall hanging woven in the village of Oodi by the weaving school Lenswe la Oodi Weavers is also on display alongside images and collages of Lavenham and prints and canvasses by artists John Garbett and Lucy Grossmith.

The gallery opens from 9am to 5pm and more information is available on 01787 247434 or www.lavenham-photographic.co.uk
