Jockey Frankie Dettori and talkSPORT’s Mickey Quinn are among his customers– now Bulent Celik has brought his barber business to Bury.

Celik’s Mensroom opened in in Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, earlier this month.

Owner Bulent Celik, a barber of 22 years, opened his first shop in Cambridge 10 years ago,and another in Newmarket three years later.

“We had a lot of people coming from Bury to the Newmarket shop, saying ‘Why don’t you look at Bury?

“We’ve come here and I really believe Bury is going to be the busiest one of the three.”

The former gun shop has been given a major revamp. It now offers a cosy waiting area with magazines, drinks, TV and WiFi.

“It is much more than a place to get your hair cut,” said Bulent.

“We don’t just use a clipper and then done. We are about the finer details.

“We offer cut throat shaving, waxing, facial, eyebrows, nostril and ear hairs treatment, head massage, we steam and use hot and cold towels – it is a five star treatment.”

For the unfamiliar like myself it is a pleasant and reinvigorating experience – you just have keep your faith as he brings out the huge flame for your ear hairs and when he cracks your neck.

The end result is the closest shave you can get, while your skin feels refreshed. It is highly recommended whether as part of a regular haircut or as a luxury treat.

Bulent says more and more men are now taking care of themselves in this way.

He eventually plans to expand the business to include sunbeds, pedicures and manicures in a room upstairs.
