Businesses to quiz politicians

BUSINESSES will have the chance to challenge political leaders at a question time event in Bury St Edmunds.

The evening, being held at The Apex on Thursday, will give the chance to quiz politicans over how business rates are being spent, what is being done to encourage and support new businesses and how much much of a priority police are placing on business crime.

The panel will include Bury MP David Ruffley, St Edmundsbury Borough Council leader John Griffiths, leader of Suffolk County Council Mark Bee, as well as the Labour candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner election in Suffolk Jane Basham, and Andrew Speed, chairman of Bid4Bury.

The question time event will be chaired by broadcaster Rachel Sloane and has been organised by Bid4Bury.

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Bid4Bury, said: “This is a great opportunity for business people in the town to ask questions about issues that affect their livelihoods.

“I’m delighted that these political influencers have agreed to take part and I hope it will be an enlightening evening for all concerned.”

The event takes place at 8pm. A drinks reception will be held from 7.15pm.

Admission is free. Those wishing to ask questions should secure their place by Monday by phoning 01284 766258 or emailing admin@bid4bury.com

The question time is being held as part of the Bury Business Festival. Visit www.businessfestival.org
