A Bury St Edmunds tea dance has made all the right steps after raising £1,000 for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

The British Sugar Tea Dance usually donate money collected through entrance fees to a charity every year.

They meet monthly on a Sunday from 2pm to 5pm at the British Sugar Sports and Social Club, in Hollow Road.

Dances include ballroom and sequence and there is an organist every other month.

Co-organiser Peter Fairweather said: “Everyone enjoys it and we have a good laugh.

“Some people choose to do all the dances, some do the dances they want and a lot of people just like the music.”

They will now raise funds for the Stroke Association.
